2026/27 League Allocation Update

THE North West Counties Football League have this afternoon provided an update in relation to the 2026/27 league allocations.

Ahead of the league’s annual AGM in Blackpool, Pilkington have announced their resignation from the Premier Division and the North West Counties Football League.

With the league constitution for the new season yet to be finalised, this has allowed the Football Association to hand relegation reprieves in order for the Premier Division to operate at 20 teams and the First Division North to operate at 22 teams as originally announced.

As a result, Litherland REMYCA have been reprieved from relegation and will remain in the Premier Division.

This also means a relegation reprieve has been given to Maine Road which will allow the club to remain both in the First Division North and the Non-League pyramid.

The league constitution will be finalised and announced at the upcoming league AGM in Blackpool.
