AFC Blackpool v Steeton AFC

Recap
STEETON made it four points out of six over the festive period as they ground out a point away at AFC Blackpool.
In a game marred by controversial refereeing decisions, the Chevrons had to play 71 minutes down to ten men after a red card to Josh Debenham.
And then had to play a further ten whilst under pressure late in the game temporarily down to nine men after Harvey Green was placed in the sin bin.
Despite these calls by the man with the whistle, Steeton equalised spectacularly through Josh Coe to send the 21 travelling supporters home with a valuable point and smiles on their faces.
The early exchanges were frantic with both teams playing end-to-end football in difficult conditions, the Blackpool keeper making a routine save from a Coe header with the home side hitting the side netting at the opposite end.
Then, in the nineteenth minute, came what appeared to be the turning point of the afternoon.
Debenham took possession of the ball and went into an innocuous 50/50 challenge with Luke Noble.
Before Noble had even landed on the ground, the referee brandished a straight red card to the Steeton striker under pressure from the Blackpool players nearby.
This sparked a series of decisions against Steeton that would further anger and irate players and coaches alike in the heat of battle.
And on the brink of half-time, the hosts finally found a breakthrough with their man advantage in another moment that turned all the attention to the three men in black.
Blackpool delivered the ball inside the Steeton area, however a push on a Chevrons defender left a man in green felled.
With a man down on the ground, Jacob Gregory fired home from close range with the ball bouncing where the defender would have been.
This sparked further fury from the disgruntled away side, manager Roy Mason and defender Jacob Smith both being booked for their part in the protests.
Mason would make sure his voice was heard in a fiery debate with the referee as they departed the pitch for the break.
Then on the hour mark, the visitors found a leveller in both fortunate and spectacular circumstances.
A loose back pass towards the Blackpool keeper from his defender left the ball free and the number one stranded in no man’s land.
Coe intercepted the loose ball and took a look up towards the goal.
Composing himself from 35 yards out, the striker took a deep breath and coolly slotted home from range for his ninth goal of the season.
Now level but under siege from the orange wave coming towards them, Mason introduced fresh legs from the bench.
There was yet more controversy to follow.
After awarding the home side a questionable free kick close to the Steeton area, the away players rightfully questioned the decision.
The official entered the fray once more, temporarily reducing the visitors to nine men as he placed Green in the sin bin for dissent.
Blackpool thought they had found the winning goal during this period of a two-man advantage.
A ball across the face of goal was finished at the near post but the scenes of jubilation were cut short with the raising of the offside flag on the near side.
Brad Emmerson continued his fine form from Boxing Day with two great stops late on with the other end of the pitch nearly seeing the visitors snatch victory themselves.
Alex Stewart however was agonisingly inches away from getting a toe on the ball after Owen Williamson placed an exceptional delivery across the face of goal.
STEETON (Subs): Emmerson; M Smith; Lloyd; Barnes; J Smith; Holgate; Green (Mitchell); Walne (Williamson); Debenham; Coe (Illingworth); Townsend (Stewart). Sub (Not Used): Lynn.
