James Catlow Departs

STEETON can today announce the departure of James Catlow.

The ever-popular goalkeeper has left Marley following a two and a half year stay with the Chevvies to re-join his former club, NWCFL Premier Division outfit Barnoldswick Town.

Arriving in August 2022, initially on dual registration, from Barlick, a string of impressive performances following his arrival prompted Roy Mason to make his signing permanent.

Continuing to impress between the sticks as the club pushed for the play-offs that season, despite two months sidelined through a hip injury, he would become affectionally known as ‘Super’ James Catlow amongst the Chevvies faithful.

Re-cementing his place as number one following injury, he would feature throughout a tough 2023/24 campaign as he only missed one game through suspension.

Beginning this season as number one once more, an in-season holiday saw Jimmy lose his position for four games.

Regaining his spot in goal, he continued to start until a groin injury away at Campion in late October.

This proved to be Catlow’s last game for the club as he lost the jersey to Brad Emmerson and has now opted to return to Barnoldswick.

In total during his two and a half years with the Chevrons, James made 82 appearances for the club and in that time recorded a total of 10 clean sheets.

Everyone here at Steeton AFC would like to place on record its thanks to Jimmy for his dedication and commitment to the club and wish him, and the Catlow family, all the very best for the future.
