Ollie Kirkpatrick Injury Update

STEETON can today provide an update on Ollie Kirkpatrick.

The Chevvies centre-half was stretchered from the pitch after sustaining a knee injury in the 16th minute of Monday’s 1-0 win away at Thornton Cleveleys.

Departing Gamble Road on crutches, Kirkpatrick returned home to undergo further scans and assessment at Airedale Hospital on Monday evening before being referred to a specialist on Tuesday morning.

Sadly, the diagnosis is that Ollie’s 2024/25 season has come to an end.

Upon being assessed by the specialist and physios at the knee clinic, the defender has been diagnosed with an ACL injury.

Requiring a further MRI scan in three weeks, Ollie is currently looking at the possibility of a surgery to repair the injury.

In this instance, the defender will require a three-month period before running prior to returning to light training in a period of 7 to 8 months with a year time window to a full return to action.

Manager Roy Mason said: “I am absolutely gutted for Ollie.

“Since coming into the side, he has offered a towering presence at the back and was forming a solid partnership at the back with Dan Illingworth.

“A huge thank you also to Thornton Cleveleys for their help in dealing with Ollie’s injury and he has also asked me to pass on his thanks.

“I have no doubt that everyone involved with the Chevrons will join me in wishing Ollie a speedy recovery.”

Everyone here at Steeton AFC wishes Ollie all the best in his recovery and the club will continue to support the defender throughout the rehabilitation process.

The club would also like to place on record its thanks to everyone at Thornton Cleveleys for their quick response and assistance to the injury on Monday afternoon.
