Andy Briggs Returns On Loan

STEETON are today delighted to welcome club legend Andy Briggs back to Marley Stadium.

The striker, who departed in 2023, returns on a loan deal from Silsden as he looks for game time and match fitness.

We would like to place on record our thanks to Silsden manager Matt Cavanagh for facilitating this deal.

‘Briggsy’ scored 146 goals in 213 appearances during his first spell with Steeton between 2014 and 2023, making his first team debut aged just 16.

Our all-time top goalscorer in semi-professional football, the striker won both the NWCFL First Division North and overall NWCFL golden boots with his 35 goals during the 2022/23 season.

This did not go unnoticed, and Andy moved on to Bury in the NWCFL Premier Division.

During his first season at Gigg Lane, he would again top the goalscoring charts as the Shakers missed out on promotion in the play-offs.

Following an injury, Briggs would have a loan spell with Widnes before departing Bury on a permanent basis to sign with West Didsbury & Chorlton.

However, further injury curtailed his time in that part of Greater Manchester and this summer he returned closer to home to sign with Silsden in the NPL Division One East.

Despite featuring for the Cobbydalers in the early part of this season, a spell out of the side has seen the striker looking for game time and match fitness which he will be hoping to find on an emotional return back to the Chevrons.

Andy is available for this afternoon’s fixture away at AFC Knowsley.
