Roy Strengthens Steeton With Attacking Pair

STEETON have strengthened their squad ahead of the weekend with the arrival of two new players.

Both players in attacking positions, an area of the squad in which manager Roy Mason has openly admitted to wanting more options available to him, they arrive in time to feature in tomorrow’s fixture against Squires Gate.

The first of the new pair is striker Kevin Gonzalez, who arrives from local rivals Silsden on a dual-registration agreement.

Joining the Step 4 Cobbydalers ahead of this campaign, Gonzalez has found chances limited to date across the roundabout,

Prior to this summer, Kevin played for Leeds UCFA after joining them midway through the last campaign from Ilkley Town.

And it was during his lengthy spell with Ilkley in which he earned his reputation with two thirty goal seasons during the Bah’tatter’s spell in the NWCFL before registering a 20 goal season following their move to the NCEL.

We would like to place on record our thanks to Silsden manager Matt Cavanagh for his facilitation of this deal.

Our second new arrival is Dan Smith, who can either play up front of behind the strikers in an attacking midfield role.

Breaking through as a member of the Silsden Reserves, contributing with 20 goals in a side that won the County Amateur league, he earned the step up to the semi-professional ranks by joining Ilkley Town after briefly featuring towards the end of the 2023/24 season in the Silsden first-team.

Laying down an immediate marker with an eye for the spectacular in front of goal in terms of both goals and assists, Dan suffered a setback in 2024 when he sustained a serious knee injury that saw him miss a year of action.

Returning to football with Field Olympic last season, he helped the Eccleshill based club earning promotion to the NCEL as County Amateur Champions.

Making the step up to Step 6 with Field, Dan made four substitute appearances this season.

However, he has made the decision to move to Marley in order for more game time moving forward into the remainder of the season.

Dan is available to sponsor for the 2026/27 season, please contact the club or Roy Mason if you would be interested in sponsoring Dan.
