Steeton bow out

Sun 20 Oct 2013

A four goal haul from Michael Garnett was the difference in an entertaining nine goal thriller in front of a large crowd at Summerhill Lane as Oxenhope dumped out the holders at the first hurdle.

A header own from Scott Nelson put Steeton ahead only for Garnett to level a minute later. James Bailey & Garnett again put Oxenhope in pole position but Andy King and Adam Spencer levelled things up. Garnett headed a fourth for the visitors a minute later and spun to fire a fifth before Pete Hanson pulled one back in the last minute.

Bay Athletic 3 Steeton 2

Steeton were left pointless in what was a terrific advert for the WRCA league, after a late Kitson Gayle strike won the points fir the reigning champions. Both sides went flat out for the win and it was the home side who grabbed it in injury time.
