Reilly late show
A 92nd Lee Reilly penalty stole the points for Steeton after it looked like Callum Cook's goal in the 91st minute had rescued a point for Halifax Irish. Reilly had given Steeton the leadl, only for Max Crossley to level things up. Andy Holden restored the lead before Gareth Jones restored parity. An own goal then put Steeton 3-2 ahead with 17 minutes remaining before the late drama.
The reserves went down 6-2 at Wibsey. After falling behind by four gpals at half time, they improved in the second period and goals from Craig Gregory and Josh Ferguson saw us regain a bit of pride. The game saw debuts for Tom Leach and Lewis Robinson from the U18 side, indeed six of our U18 squad were involved, that coupled with two also being in the first team squad the clubs push to youth will long term prove fruitful.
The under 18's had no game this week.
This weeks fixtures
The first team entertain Halifax Irish today. With Sam Rooke and Matty Kershaw suspended, Martin Bland is included in the squad. Michael Rhodes is also aavailable following his surprise omission from the county squad.
The reserves face Wibsey and their squad see's two more of the juniors in Tom Leach and Lewis Robinson (pictured) make the squad after their excellent progress in the U18 squad.
Both games kick off at 2pm
The Juniors beat local rivals Silsden 6-3 in their best performance of the season. Jonson Butterfield gave Steeton the lead before further goals from Josh Ferguson 2, Euan Sessford, Casey Dowthwaite and a further Butterfield strike gave us a 6-1 lead before two late Silsden goals reduced the deficit.
