Today's home game with Ovenden has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. We are looking at moving the fixture to Ovenden providing their pitch passes an 11am inspection.
An inspection is planned for the reserves game at Lower Hopton this am.
Updates to follow.
The first team earned a home tie with Oxenhope following a 2-1 win at West Yorkshire side Beeston St Anthony's.
After going a goal behind in the first minute, Steeton levelled through Pete Hanson. The home side were then reduced to ten men following an off the ball incident. Tim Hird struck the winner just before half time.
The reserves lost 4-0 at Rothwell, but it was a very young Steeton side mainly made up of the U18 squad.
Reilly late show
A 92nd Lee Reilly penalty stole the points for Steeton after it looked like Callum Cook's goal in the 91st minute had rescued a point for Halifax Irish. Reilly had given Steeton the leadl, only for Max Crossley to level things up. Andy Holden restored the lead before Gareth Jones restored parity. An own goal then put Steeton 3-2 ahead with 17 minutes remaining before the late drama.
The reserves went down 6-2 at Wibsey. After falling behind by four gpals at half time, they improved in the second period and goals from Craig Gregory and Josh Ferguson saw us regain a bit of pride. The game saw debuts for Tom Leach and Lewis Robinson from the U18 side, indeed six of our U18 squad were involved, that coupled with two also being in the first team squad the clubs push to youth will long term prove fruitful.
The under 18's had no game this week.
