Steeton bow out of County Cup
Steeton bowed out of the County Cup following a 6-1 defeat to holders, Carlton Athletic.
The visitors went ahead when Annes Younis slotted home, Younis then saw his penalty saved by Joe Mash as they looked to get a grip of the game.
Scott Hargreaves then struck a quick brace in the first eight minutes of the second half to put the holders firmly in pole position. Hargreaves then grabbed his hatrick before Ben Richardson pulled a goal back from the penalty spot after Graham Holmes was fouled. Any thoughts of a comeback were soon dashed when Scott Burns hit a fifth as Steeton pushed forward and Liam Moore wrapped things up with a late sixth, with keeper Mash struggling with a knee injury.
The reserves had a resounding 10-0 win away to Bradford FC. New signing Nicky McNally hit five and a brace from Andy Howland was backed up by further strikes from Mark McGee, Joe Flaherty and Greig Hudson.
