It was a dramatic day at Lower Hopton as Steeton came from behind to win the game in dramatic fashion.
After going a goal behind Andy Briggs levelled only for the home side to regain the lead straight from the kick off. With time running down Sam Rooke swept home Toby Jeffrey's cross in the 91st minute. The drama was not over as Andy Briggs headed home Joe Park's cross in the 95th minute to seal the points.
Greig Hudson and a Brannan Lawn brace saw the reserves beat Tingley 3-1.
The U18's increased their lead at the top of the table with a 14-0 win at Menston.
Saturday 4 November
The club's first team progressed to the third round of the WR County FA Challenge Cup with a superb 4-1 victory at Knaresborough Town Reserves. Ben Clarkson opened the scoring before skipper Michael Rhodes, who was making his 175th appearance, doubled the lead from the penalty spot (see picture) after Jonah Smith had been fouled. Sam Rooke added a third goal before the interval. The home side pulled one back in the second half but Clarkson completed the rout with his second goal just before the final whistle. This victory has earned Steeton a home tie against Boroughbridge AFC which will be played on 2nd December. It was Boroughbridge who knocked Steeton out of the same competition at the semi-final stage last season.
The reserves unfortunately lost 2-1 away at Beeston St Antony's Yorkshire Amateur League side. The home side were 2-0 up at half-time and despite a concerted effort to find an equaliser after Mark McGee had pulled a goal back ten minutes from time, it was the home side who went through to the next round of the WR County FA Challenge Trophy.
